Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse and Practical Healing Meetup Group

One third of Canadians have suffered some form of Child Abuse in their lives. Many of us suffer quietly alone as adults and bury the shame deep inside.

It is often times the root source of many of our daily struggles and can affect us unknowingly and in how we conduct ourselves in our relationships with our partners, family members, at work and with friends. We often feel ashamed to acknowledge our past and it takes a lot of courage to talk about it, but until we do so in a healthy manner, our struggles will continue throughout our lifetime and passed along to our kids.

The abuse has lifelong effects such as: Depression, Anger, Anxiety, Fear, Low self-esteem and Loneliness.

This Meetup Group (ASCA and Practical Healing) was created as an extension to Solace. We all face challenges at some point in our lives and this Meetup Group specifically works to deal with the abuse we faced as children and helps to build a community of healing. Like you, I’m an adult survivor of child abuse and have stories to share. I feel it’s important to know that you’re not alone. This meetup is informal and although it’s not a substitute for professional therapy, I believe by sharing our stories in a friendly and safe environment with others who share common experiences, can help us find the courage to reshape our unhealthy thoughts and also to remind us that this is a common challenge for many adults.

I hope you’ll join us!
